Two people killed in Fair Haven fire

FAIR HAVEN — Two people have died in a structure fire in Fair Haven.

According to officials, today at 5:50 a.m., Fair Haven Police, Fire and EMS responded to reports of a structure fire on Griffith Pond Road in Fair Haven.

Upon arriving at the scene, police and fire personnel confirmed a working structure fire.

Firefighters from surrounding areas were called to assist and were able to contain the fire.

Reports indicate that the home occupants may have been inside the residence.

After conducting a search of the premises, officials discovered the remains of two people.

The bodies were sent to the Medical Examiner’s office for autopsies and to confirm the identities of the deceased.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the Fair Haven Police Department, the Vermont State Police, and the Office of the Medical Examiner.

Fair Haven Fire Department, Castleton Fire Department, Hampton Fire Department, Poultney Fire Department, West Haven Fire Department, Benson Fire Department, and Fair Haven EMS all responded to the scene.
