Two charged with organized retail crime enterprise in Salem

SALEM – Two men have been charged with organized retail crime after multiple shoplifting incidents took place in Salem, New Hampshire.

The suspects were identified as Michael James Watson, 33, and Brian K. Caswell, 47, both of Manchester.

Loss prevention personnel identified Watson as having committed multiple thefts in Salem over the past two months.

The suspects were seen driving a black Nissan Maxima with NH plates, and the vehicle was located in the Kohl’s parking lot.

Salem Police subsequently arrested both men with a large amount of stolen merchandise recovered.

Watson was held without bail and arraigned before the Rockingham Superior Court on the following charges:

Organized Retail Crime Enterprise – 2 counts – Class B Felonies
Willful Concealment; Theft; with 2 prior convictions – 7 counts – Class B Felonies
Willful Concealment: Theft; 3 businesses within 72 hours – 1 count – Class B Felony
Probation Violation Hold

Caswell was released on personal recognizance bail and is scheduled to be arraigned before the Rockingham Superior Court at a later date. He was charged with the following:

Organized Retail Crime Enterprise – 1 count – Class B Felony
Willful Concealment; Theft; 3 businesses within 72 hours – 1 count – Class B Felony
Willful Concealment; Theft – 4 counts – Misdemeanor A

All subjects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
