Driver charged with DUI after crash in South Burlington

BURLINGTON — A 24-year-old man from Burlington was arrested for DUI following a crash in South Burlington yesterday.

The single-vehicle crash took place at the intersection of 1-89 west and Shelburne Road at around 9:15 p.m.

Police say they identified the sole occupant and driver as Alex Storey.

According to the report, Storey was traveling west when he failed to maintain his lane and crossed over the breakdown lane into a ditch.

Police say nobody was injured during the crash.

While speaking with Storey, police say they observed several indicators of impairment.

He was arrested for the suspicion of DUI and transported to the Williston Police Department for processing.

At the conclusion of processing, Storey was transported to UVM Medical center with a citation to appear in court on March 23 to answer the charge of DUI.

Troopers were assisted by South Burlington Fire and Rescue and the vehicle was towed by Handys Service Center.
