Driver headed wrong way through Highgate Port of Entry charged with DUI #2

HIGHGATE — A 49-year-old man from Swanton was arrested for his second DUI following an incident in Highgate yesterday.

Authorities say they were notified of a wrong-way driver traveling through the gates at the Port-of-Entry at around 8:40 p.m.

U.S. Customs and Border Patrol stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as Jerome Mabb.

Troopers from the Vermont State Police St. Albans barracks were notified of the incident and traveled to the Port.

While speaking with Mabb, police say they observed several indicators of impairment.

He was arrested for the suspicion of DUI#2 and transported to the St. Albans barracks for processing.

At the conclusion of processing, he was issued a citation to appear in court on March 6 and answer to the charge.
