Truck gets stuck in Smugglers’ Notch

CAMBRIDGE — A 37-year-old truck driver from Florida was ticketed following an incident in Cambridge yesterday.

Authorities say they were notified a tractor-trailer was stuck in Smuggler’s Notch at around 11:10 p.m.

The tractor-trailer was located near the top of Smuggler’s Notch.

The driver was identified as Edzer Cosmeus, of North Lauderdale, FL.

Cosmeus told police that he observed several warning signs prohibiting tractor-trailers from traveling through the notch but continued to follow his GPS.

He was ticketed with fines totaling $3,544.

Vermont Route 108 was closed for several hours until the tractor-trailer could be removed from the road.

State Police was assisted on the scene by the Stowe Police Department, Department of Motor Vehicles, and Allegiance Towing.
