Driver injured during crash on I-89, Berlin

BERLIN — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash with injury in Berlin yesterday.

The crash took place south on Interstate 89 at around 2:10 p.m.

Police say a vehicle driven by Thomas Welsh, 71, of Barre, struck a vehicle driven by Etienne Morin, 40, of Quebec, Canada, while it was disabled on the side of the off-ramp.

Welsh’s vehicle sustained totaling damage.

He was transported to Central Vermont Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Morin’s trailer sustained significant rear-end damage.

The exit 7 southbound off-ramp was closed for an extended period of time while crews worked to clear the scene.

Troopers were assisted on the scene by Action Towing and LaRoche Towing.
