Rollover crash on I-91 in Hartford caused by flying chunk of ice

HARTFORD — A 28-year-old woman from Windsor was involved in a rollover crash in Hartford today.

The single-vehicle crash took place on I-91 at around 9:45 a.m.

According to the report, Katherine Gibbel was headed south when a chunk of ice flew off another vehicle in front of her.

Police say the ice chunk smashed her vehicle’s windshield, causing her to lose control of the vehicle.

She traveled through the median where the vehicle rolled and came to rest on the edge of the northbound side of I-91.

Anyone who witnessed this crash is being asked to contact the State Police at 802-234-9933.

Police are reminding drivers to clean vehicles of snow, ice, or any debris.
