ESSEX — Police are investigating a bomb threat made at the Hannaford Supermarket on Essex Way last week.

On Thursday, Essex Police, Essex Town Fire, and Essex Rescue responded to the scene at around 10:50 p.m.

An employee of Hannaford told police that an unknown male caller reported there to be a bomb inside the building and that it was scheduled to detonate at a scheduled time if the building was not evacuated.

The building was evacuated during the investigation.

There were no customers in the building when the report was made to the police.

Essex Police and Essex Town Fire conducted a search of the exterior of the building.

Nothing suspicious was located as a result, police say.

The incident was determined to be not credible and Hannaford employees were allowed back in the building.

Police are still investigating this incident.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact the Essex Police.
