Two charged with attempted murder after assault leaves Derby man paralyzed

DERBY — Two men will face charges following a lengthy investigation into an assault that took place in Derby back in October of 2020.

Police say Dante Flowers Sr., 45, and Dante Flowers Jr., 27, both from Connecticut, have been charged with attempted murder.

During the assault, James Castrogiovanni, 41, of Derby, sustained life-threatening injuries that caused him to be paralyzed from the chest down.

The incident occurred at Castrogiovanni’s residence at the Derby Mobile Home Park.

Investigators say Flowers Sr. and Flowers Jr. knew Castrogiovanni from previous interactions.

Both men are currently in federal custody on unrelated charges.

They are due to answer the attempted murder charge at 11 a.m. Sept. 14, 2021, in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in Newport.
