Public input sought for Newport’s Comprehensive Municipal Plan

1 min read

NEWPORT — The city of Newport is requesting public input on the objectives and actions for the Comprehensive Municipal Plan.

The Newport City Planning Commission has been working on an update to its Comprehensive Municipal Plan, the first major update since the early 2000s.

The Municipal Plan establishes the city’s core priorities and addresses a wide range of topics including land use, housing, and economic development.

The Municipal Plan update will build on the many past efforts of the city, including planning for the downtown, waterfront, and recreational areas.

The community is encouraged to participate and provide guidance throughout the update process.

This survey represents the second of two major public engagement opportunities in the update process.

The first survey focused on identifying issues, assets, and potential investment priorities.

The second survey involves a review of the draft vision statements and an assessment of the actions and objectives that help realize the stated vision.

The survey can be found online at newportvermont.org.
