Man with gunshot wound reported at grocery store in Montgomery

MONTGOMERY — Schools went into lockdown this afternoon after a man was found shot at a grocery store in Montgomery.

At about 12:25 p.m. police were called to Sylvester’s Market on Main Street for a report of an adult male suffering from what police describe as a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

EMS first responders arrived in the area and located the victim.

He was transported by helicopter to the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington for treatment.

Police say the man was experiencing a mental health crisis, and no criminal charges are expected.

Schools in the area temporarily went into lockdown while the incident was being resolved.
