NEWPORT — North Country Hospital was recently recognized for promoting organ, eye, and tissue donation.

The hospital has participated in the donate life campaign for the past several years to educate the community about the organ donation process and success stories of lives saved.

Even in the midst of a worldwide crisis, 127 hospitals and transplant centers in the New England Donor Services region earned recognition.

This year North Country Hospital has been recognized at the Platinum Level.

“Here at North Country, the house supervisor team continues to elevate this program with timely organ bank referrals, and this high level of achievement is a result of them stepping up their compliance status over the past three years,” Emergency Room leader Heidi Hawkins said. “I am grateful for their dedication to this important program.”

The Health Resources and Services Administration Division of Transplantation noted that nearly 1,700 hospitals participated and added 59,662 donor registrations to state registries.

The campaign’s success reflects the efforts and steadfast commitment of all partners.
