Driver in critical condition after head-on crash in Barton

BARTON — A woman from Albany is in critical condition after a crash in Barton this morning.

Emergency workers responded to a head-on crash on the Hollow Road at around 11:00 a.m.

The section of Hollow Road where the crash occurred is a narrow dirt road.

Stacey Williams, 55, had been left of center while coming over the hill, which resulted in a head-on collision with another vehicle, police say.

Williams suffered significant injuries and was flighted by DART to UVM medical center.

Charles King, 62, also of Albany, was transported by ambulance to North Country Hospital.

According to police, the driver of the second vehicle, identified as Jordan Lanou, 23, of Holland, had fled the scene prior to their arrival.

Lanou later turned himself in and was charged with leaving the scene on an accident with injuries resulting.

The crash remains under investigation, and police are asking anyone with information to call 802-334-8881.
