Break-in at Glover’s Market and Deli in Newport Center

NEWPORT — Police are encouraging the community to be on the lookout for anyone selling tobacco products after a local convenience store was robbed early Friday morning.

At around 3:15 a.m. two men broke into Glover’s Family Market and Deli in Newport Center.

Police say both men are thin in build, one male is short in stature while the other is taller.

A significant amount of tobacco products were stolen from the market along with other miscellaneous items.

According to police, evidence has been collected from the scene.

“If approached to purchase such items from any individual rather than a licensed establishment, you are encouraged to contact the State Police in Derby,” a statement put out by police reads.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is also being asked to contact Trooper Ferrier at 802-334-8881.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
