NEWPORT — Police in Newport are investigating a single-car crash that occurred last night on Lake Road.
The incident took place at around 7:45 p.m.
First responders observed a Chevy Silverado that had come to rest in the ditch alongside the road.
The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was identified as Derick Lay, 28, of Newport.
Newport Ambulance Service and the Newport Fire Department also responded to the scene.
Police say Lay was not injured.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by police.
