NEWPORT — A two-car crash took place on I-91 in Newport this morning.
At around 8:00 a.m. police were dispatched to the scene, located near mile marker 170 on I-91 North.
Both lanes of travel were temporarily blocked, and visibility was limited at the time due to gusting wind.
According to police, Melanie Butler, 41, of Holland, had been traveling north with traffic, when another vehicle, driven by Branden Schauer, 24, of Irasburg, struck her vehicle from the rear.
Schauer then collided with the west guardrail.
State Police, Border Patrol, and Derby Line EMS assisted, and a lane of travel was opened.
Both vehicles were moved to the shoulder.
Police say Butler and Schauer declined EMS services. Are you on Instagram? Cool. So are we. CLICK HERE to follow us for a behind the scenes look at Newport Dispatch.
