Newport man passed out inside vehicle in Coventry arrested for DUI and DLS

COVENTRY — A 52-year-old man from Newport was arrested on Wednesday when police say they found him passed out drunk inside a vehicle in Coventry.

At around 7:00 p.m., police were dispatched to a report of an unresponsive male in a motor vehicle on Maxwell Road.

Police say their investigation indicated that the driver, identified as Donald Rockwell, 52, of Newport, had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

According to the report, he blew a BAC of 0.129 percent at the scene.

Rockwell’s license was also found to be criminally suspended.

He was placed under arrest for suspicion of DUI and DLS.

He was transported to Derby where he was processed and released with a citation to appear in court.
