BARTON — The 147th Annual Orleans County Fair opened today. This old-time agricultural county fair provides fun and entertainment for the entire family. Although the weather has not exactly been friendly for the opening, the burnout competition and four wheeler pull scheduled for Wednesday will go on rain or shine.

The Remax balloon rides were canceled for Wednesday due to weather, but should take place tomorrow.

Gates open at 8 a.m., and Midway opens at 12 p.m. Children under 12 must be with an adult.

General Admission is $12 on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Sunday. Saturday admission is $15. Senior & Military Day on Friday is $7. Admission includes exhibits, entertainment, demonstrations & midway rides.

But, the show must go on. Enjoy the animal exhibits and judging shows–horse shows, horse pulls, horse harness racing, gymkhana, dairy cattle shows, beef shows, oxen show, ox pulling, milking parlor demonstrations, sheep shows, petting zoo, poultry exhibit, rabbit exhibit, alpaca exhibit.

Other agricultural displays include–horticulture display, arts and crafts, wool spinning, farm machinery dealer display, antique farm machinery.

The evening entertainment is comprised of 4×4 truck pulling, music, featuring Keeghan Nolan, with Cody Mabe opening, and the Demolition Derby.

New this year is the Kingdom Brewing, Grilling & BBQ Cook-off on Saturday, August 16.
