Brockton police seize illegal firearms after drive-by shooting, suspect at large

BROCKTON — Brockton Police and School Police executed a search warrant Friday afternoon following a drive-by shooting on Brookside Avenue earlier in the day, officials said.

The shooting, which occurred around 7 a.m., resulted in damage to a vehicle but no injuries were reported.

Investigators are currently searching for a male teenage suspect believed to be involved in the incident.

Authorities recovered a stolen Maroon Chevy Traverse believed to be used in the shooting a short distance from the suspect’s home.

The vehicle was processed and returned to its rightful owner.

During the search of the juvenile’s residence, Brockton Patrol Officers, Detectives, and State Police seized three illegal handguns and ammunition.

The Police Department has expressed gratitude to all officers involved for their swift action in taking the weapons off the streets.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward to assist in locating the suspect.
