BOSTON — Boston Police Department officers assigned to District D-4 apprehended a 41-year-old Billerica woman on drug trafficking charges late Wednesday night after a brief pursuit involving a stolen scooter.

At about 10:13 p.m., on April 10, officers patrolling near Massachusetts Avenue and Albany Street were alerted to a stolen scooter being tracked in the vicinity, following a report filed with the D-4 front desk officer.

Spotting a female suspect operating the scooter, they attempted to intercept her, but she tried to evade the officers by driving onto the sidewalk.

After broadcasting a description of the suspect, police located her at 650 Albany Street.

Officers managed to stop the suspect, identified as Jodi Faria, and placed her in handcuffs.

A subsequent search revealed a large plastic bag in her possession, containing a substance believed to be crack cocaine, which was later confirmed to weigh approximately 32 grams.

Faria was arrested and charged with trafficking of class B, possession with intent to distribute class B, and possession of class B drugs.

She is scheduled for arraignment in Boston Municipal Court.
