South Windsor police assist in arrest of two men, recover firearms after chase

SOUTH WINDSOR — South Windsor Police Department officers assisted Connecticut State Police in apprehending two males who fled on foot after a single-car accident on I-291, authorities said Friday.

The incident occurred at 2:50 p.m. when South Windsor Police responded to a call to assist state police.

The two males had attempted to enter multiple vehicles at Hartford Truck Equipment on John Fitch Boulevard before heading towards the Mobil Gas Station at 84 John Fitch Boulevard.

With support from East Hartford Police Department officers, the South Windsor Police were able to locate and detain the suspects.

Two K9 units from the East Hartford Police Department successfully found a Glock 9mm handgun and an AK-47 that the suspects had discarded during the pursuit.

The individuals were arrested and have since been transferred to the custody of State Police.
