BARTON — This year’s recipients of the Department Honors in Social Studies at Lake Region Union High School were recently honored at an evening reception hosted by the department.

The Social Studies Department of LRUHS was proud to announce that (pictured in the photo left to right) Evan McKenzie, Elijah Leroux, Matthew Messier, Gratia Rowell, (back) Sydney Whipple, Jade Jarvis, Kayla Poginy, Alyssa Lawson and Althea Holland (Allison Piette and Cassie Tarbox are not pictured) of the Class of 2015, received the award.

Department Honors is the highest recognition awarded by Lake Region’s Social Studies Department, and is given in acknowledgment of superior academic achievement (a GPA of 3.5+) in the most rigorous program of studies offered by the department, including Honors World History (Grade 9), Honors US History (Grade 10), and Advanced Placement (AP) in Psychology or US Government and Politics in Grade 11.

Individual letters of recommendation from the department have been prepared for each recipient to assist them in their upcoming college application process.

Newport Dispatch News would like to congratulate these students for all the hard work and effort they have put in throughout the years, setting a good example for younger students in our area.
