DERBY— A 26-year-old woman from Derby was tragically killed in a car accident on I-91 early this morning in Coventry.
Police say that Danielle Carpenter, 26, of Derby, was pronounced deceased at the scene by Newport Ambulance.
At 6:11 a.m. the Vermont State Police responded to the single vehicle accident on I-91 north at mile marker 166.
Police say Carpenter was the only occupant in the vehicle.
At this time police say it appears that Carpenter was traveling north when her vehicle, a 2009 Mazda MZ3, crossed the rumble strips in the passing lane.
The vehicle then slid out of control and flipped over, coming to an uncontrolled rest in the median.
Police say that the crash is still under investigation at this time.
