DERBY — A tractor-trailer that was towing a manure spreader overturned in Derby this afternoon.
The single vehicle accident took place on U.S. Route 5 in the Town of Derby, at around 11:25 a.m.
Police say that the driver, Michael Judd, 72, of Derby, was wearing his seatbelt at the time and not injured in the crash
A report issued by police states that their investigation determined that due to the speed of the tractor-trailer unit, Judd was forced to drive partially off the roadway in order to avoid colliding with another vehicle.
The soft ground caused the unit to overturn.
The scene was cleared within a few hours.
