NEWPORT — The Newport Area Community Orchestra is presenting its fourth annual spring concert on Sunday, May 24th at the United Church in Newport at 3:00 p.m. The orchestra will be playing the following pieces for the program:
Marcello Oboe Concerto in d minor
John Rutter Suite Antique for Flute
Mozart Concerto No. 4 for French horn
The Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saens
The featured soloists for the concert will be Anna Shelow (French horn), Paula Hansen-Graveline (Flute), John Barr (Oboe), and Mark Violette and Janice Luce (Piano).
The concert promises to be one of the orchestra’s best and will be featuring their newly expanded string section.
You will hear many animals represented by the instruments of the orchestra in the Carnival of the Animals, which will be narrated by Susan-Lynn Johns who will be reading limericks by Ogden Nash and also announcing the concert.
This is one concert that you do not want to miss.
There will be a suggested donation of $5 at the door. The orchestra is a 501 c 3 non-profit organization and all donations are tax deductible.
