BARNET — A New Hampshire man faces a DUI charge after crashing his car on an Interstate 91 exit ramp Thursday afternoon.

Vermont State Police responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash near Exit 18 on I-91 North around 3:01 p.m.

Troopers found a severely damaged Volkswagen Jetta on the shoulder of the exit ramp.

The driver, Christopher Bolton, 29, of Marlborough, N.H., was seated on the ground nearby when officers arrived.

During their investigation, troopers observed several signs of impairment and determined Bolton had been driving under the influence of alcohol.

Bolton suffered minor injuries in the crash, which totaled his vehicle.

CALEX Ambulance transported Bolton to Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital for precautionary reasons.

Troopers remained with Bolton at the hospital and later cited him to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court on June 30 at 8:30 a.m.
