BOSTON — Detectives from District C-11 in Dorchester arrested 19-year-old Reymi Pereira of Roxbury on multiple firearm-related charges following an investigation into a recovered firearm early Saturday, April 5.

Officers responded at approximately 4:26 a.m. to a large party that had turned into a verbal disturbance at 58 Westville Street in Dorchester.

Upon arrival, they observed several individuals fleeing the area, leaving numerous illegally parked vehicles.

An officer noticed a vehicle speeding down Westville Street, repeatedly sounding its horn.

As the officer approached the vehicle, it abruptly reversed and struck the officer while attempting to flee, then jumped a curb, narrowly missing other officers before stopping.

The driver fled on foot, leaving the officer with non-life-threatening injuries that required hospital treatment.

Officers broadcasted a description and searched for the suspect.

Around 5:01 a.m., another vehicle was observed speeding on Geneva Avenue toward Bowdoin Street.

While initially losing sight of it, officers located it parked at 105 Norton Street.

The vehicle, a rental, had its engine still hot and emitted a strong odor of burnt rubber.

Officers noticed a black Glock 17 9mm handgun with one round in the chamber and 30 live rounds in an extended magazine, seen through the car’s dark-tinted windows.

The vehicle was towed for further investigation.

C-11 Detectives launched an investigation and identified Reymi Pereira as the individual connected to the vehicle and firearm.

Approximately five and a half hours after the initial incident, Pereira arrived at the District C-11 police station inquiring about the towed vehicle.

Detectives recognized him from their investigation and, after a brief conversation, placed him under arrest.

Pereira is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a large capacity firearm, possession of a large capacity feeding device, unlawful possession of ammunition, and carrying a loaded firearm without a license.
