BOSTON — Officers with the Boston Police Department in Mattapan arrested Jahar Pinkett, 41, on larceny charges at about 3:07 p.m. on Sunday, April 6.
Authorities responded to a report of a larceny in progress in the area of 91 Babson Street.
Upon arrival, they were informed that a male suspect had stolen two packages from the front steps of a residence before fleeing with a female companion and a dog.
A witness was able to intervene and recover the stolen packages after confronting the suspects.
Police utilized video surveillance to obtain descriptions of the suspects and dispatched their details and the direction of their flight to officers in the area.
Officers subsequently located Pinkett and the female suspect walking a dog near 1450 Blue Hill Avenue.
Pinkett was detained and taken into custody.
Pinkett is set to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of receiving stolen property under $1,200 and larceny from a building.
