GEORGIA — On April 7 at approximately 7:28 a.m., Vermont State Police responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Ballard Road in Georgia.

A white 2024 Subaru Impreza, driven by Kaleb McKinlay, 20, of Colchester, left the road, entered a steep gully, and struck a tree near Sweet Bedrock Lane.

The vehicle was totaled.

McKinlay, who was not wearing a seat belt, sustained significant but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to UVM Medical Center.

A passenger, Xavier Hess, 20, of Milton, sustained minor injuries and was taken to Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

The crash remains under investigation, but authorities indicate speed and alcohol appear to be contributing factors.
