BROWNINGTON — Vermont State Police arrested a Brownington man Sunday in connection with a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a pedestrian on Route 5A.
Derrick Farrand, 44, was taken into custody after troopers located his damaged 2017 Subaru WRX at a property on Pepin Road.
The incident occurred Saturday at 9:16 p.m. during rainy conditions on wet roads.
Ricky Laprade, 64, of Derby, suffered serious injuries in the crash and was transported to North Country Hospital.
Farrand’s vehicle sustained damage to the passenger side front end, front wheel well and side mirror.
Troopers found both Farrand and his black Subaru at the same Pepin Road property while following up on leads.
Farrand was charged with Crash – Duty to Stop, Serious Injury Resulting.
After processing at the Derby Barracks, Farrand was ordered held on $5,000 bail.
