BRIDGEPORT — Police seized a loaded handgun, marijuana, hallucinogenic mushrooms and more than $165,000 in cash during a raid at a local smoke shop, authorities said Monday.
The Bridgeport Police Task Force executed search warrants March 28 at G’s Smoke Shop, located at the intersection of Middle Street and John Street, and an apartment above the store.
Officers recovered a loaded 9mm handgun, approximately 86.65 pounds of marijuana products, about 10 pounds of hallucinogenic mushroom products, and over $165,000 in U.S. currency, according to police.
Gabriel Rodriguez, 42, of Bridgeport, was charged with multiple firearm and narcotic violations, including criminal possession of a firearm and possession of hallucinogens and possession of over 1 kilogram of marijuana with intent to sell.
Police said Rodriguez is a convicted felon.
The raid followed an investigation conducted throughout March by the Bridgeport Police Task Force into illegal firearms and unauthorized marijuana sales at the smoke shop.
