PORTSMOUTH — A Massachusetts woman was arrested and charged with driving under the influence with a child passenger after police observed her vehicle driving erratically on Route 24.
Kaleigh Maraglia, 33, of Bridgewater, was stopped by Portsmouth Police at approximately 9:36 p.m. on March 23 after officers observed her vehicle following too closely to another car, improperly changing lanes, and drifting between lane dividers.
Officers detected the odor of alcohol on Maraglia’s breath during the traffic stop and noted that an 8-year-old child was in the vehicle.
Maraglia failed field sobriety tests at the scene and was placed under arrest, according to police.
Officers discovered open alcohol containers during a search of the vehicle.
At Portsmouth Police Headquarters, Maraglia consented to a chemical breath test, which she failed.
She was charged with DUI of liquor/drugs with a blood alcohol content of .10-.15 and DUI with a child under 13 as a passenger.
Maraglia was issued Rhode Island Traffic Tribunal citations and a district court summons before being released with a scheduled arraignment at the 2nd Division District Court for June 3.
