WORCESTER — Worcester Police arrested a 29-year-old man Monday after he approached a stolen company vehicle with a key fob.

Officers responded to Piedmont Street at 7:35 a.m. following a call from someone who spotted his stolen company vehicle.

When police arrived, they confirmed the vehicle was stolen and found it locked and unoccupied.

Shortly after, Brett Cordeiro of Worcester walked up to the driver’s side door with a key fob in his hand.

Officers approached Cordeiro and determined the key fob was used to unlock the vehicle.

Cordeiro claimed a family member had given him the key to the vehicle.

He was charged with receiving a stolen motor vehicle.
