FORT ANN — State Police responded to reports of a logging accident in the area of State Route 149 in Fort Ann on March 18.
Troopers arrived at the scene at approximately 4:30 p.m. after receiving calls about the incident.
Leslie H. Saltsman, 76, of Fort Ann, was discovered more than a half mile from the roadway in a wooded area, pinned beneath a downed tree.
Saltsman sustained severe crushing injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation into the accident is ongoing, though authorities report the death does not appear suspicious.
