AVON — A Batavia woman was arrested on felony drug charges following a traffic stop on Interstate 390 in the Town of Avon on March 17.
Deputy Jerry Pilkenton of the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Highway Patrol Unit stopped a southbound vehicle at approximately 9:25 p.m. for alleged violations of New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law.
The driver was identified as Rhonda Schirmer, 58, of Batavia.
During a subsequent drug investigation, deputies discovered Schirmer was in possession of crack cocaine, according to Sheriff Thomas J. Dougherty.
A passenger, Floyd Stevens, 63, of Rochester, was also found with a smaller amount of crack cocaine, authorities said.
Schirmer was charged with felony Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree, along with vehicle and traffic violations.
Stevens was charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree.
Both individuals were processed at the Livingston County Jail and arraigned at the Livingston County Centralized Arraignment Part before Town of Mount Morris Justice Ossont.
The judge released both Schirmer and Stevens on their own recognizance, as their charges do not qualify for bail under the New York State Bail Reform Act.
The Geneseo Police Department assisted with the investigation.
