ST. JOHNSBURY — A Littleton man faces multiple charges after allegedly stealing a vehicle, crashing it in St. Johnsbury, and fleeing the scene on foot.

Vermont State Police responded to reports of a single-vehicle crash near 980 Concord Avenue at 4:45 p.m. on March 16.

Investigation revealed a Land Rover Range Rover was traveling northwest on Concord Avenue when it failed to maintain its lane, went off the road, and struck a speed limit sign, residential mailbox, and several trees.

Troopers learned the driver, later identified as Robert Keenan, 21, had fled the scene on foot before their arrival.

The vehicle had been reportedly stolen from Cumberland Farms in Littleton, New Hampshire, shortly before the crash.

Despite searching the surrounding area, troopers were unable to locate Keenan.

The following day, at approximately 1:25 p.m., Keenan turned himself in at the Vermont State Police St. Johnsbury Barracks, confessing to his involvement in both the theft and crash.

Keenan was cited to appear in Caledonia County Superior Court on April 28 at 8:30 a.m. to face charges including leaving the scene of an accident, operation without owner consent, criminal driving with a suspended license, negligent operation, and violation of conditions of release.

The stolen vehicle sustained severe damage in the crash.
