SOUTHBURY — A woman was arrested after allegedly attempting to cash a stolen check using a stolen ID at a local bank on March 15.
Southbury Police responded to Ives Bank at 325 Main Street South around 11:30 a.m. following reports of a suspicious transaction at the drive-through.
The driver initially provided a false name and date of birth but was later identified as Vanessa Rodriguez, 50, of Southbury.
Police determined that Rodriguez was wearing a wig to impersonate the victim whose identification had been stolen.
Her passenger was identified as Kahlaya McAlphin, 22.
Rodriguez faces multiple charges including third-degree forgery, third-degree identity theft, attempted third-degree larceny, criminal impersonation and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McAlphin was charged with conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both suspects were released on $5,000 bonds and are scheduled to appear at Waterbury Superior Court on March 20 at 9 a.m.
