DERBY — Vermont State Police responded to a report of a disorderly and belligerent man at an apartment building on VT RT 111 at 11 p.m. Saturday.
Troopers learned before arrival that Nathanael Bagley, 25, of Derby, had active pretrial conditions of release prohibiting alcohol consumption.
Investigation at the scene revealed Bagley was intoxicated, violating his conditions of release.
When troopers attempted to take Bagley into custody, he ran into a nearby bathroom and tried to escape through a second-story window.
Troopers attempted to pull Bagley back inside, but he managed to exit through the window and flee the scene despite falling from the second story.
Authorities reported Bagley did not sustain injuries from the fall.
A search involving Vermont State Police, Newport Police Department, and U.S. Border Patrol failed to immediately locate Bagley.
Bagley later returned to the residence where he again resisted arrest but was successfully taken into custody by troopers and Newport officers.
Following processing at the Derby Barracks, Bagley was lodged at the Northern State Correctional facility for lack of $5,000 bail.
Bagley faces charges of violation of conditions of release, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and impeding public officers.
