NEWBURGH — City of Newburgh police arrested a 17-year-old male Town of Newburgh resident on March 7 in connection with a shooting that occurred last year.
The teen was charged with attempted murder in the second degree for allegedly shooting a male victim four times.
The shooting took place on June 7, 2023, at approximately 5:06 p.m. near 26 Liberty Street, according to police.
Officers responded to reports of shots fired and were later notified that a male victim had arrived at Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital with four gunshot wounds.
City of Newburgh Detectives and the Non-Fatal Shooting Task Force immediately began investigating the incident.
The victim survived his injuries.
The investigation was conducted by the City of Newburgh Detective Division and the Non-Fatal Shooting Task Force, a joint collaboration between city detectives, Orange County District Attorney’s Office investigators, and the Orange County Crime Analysis Center.
