Four North Troy men arrested for burglary at East Main General Store

NEWPORT — Newport Police are saying that four men from North Troy have been arrested in connection to a burglary at the East Main General Store in Newport City.

The incident took place at 1:30 a.m. on April 10, when police responded to a complaint of a burglary in progress at the store, located at 477 East Main Street.

Police are saying that a vigilant citizen witnessed the burglary, and called police. The witness was able to provide a description of the vehicle used during the crime.

Newport Police say that based on that information they were able to locate the vehicle, and arrest four suspects.

The four men, all from North Troy, are scheduled to be arraigned on April 21, and face charges of burglary, possession of burglars tools, and unlawful mischief.

One man also faces charges of providing a false report to law enforcement authorities.
