Woman dies in two-vehicle crash on Waterbury Stowe Road

WATERBURY — A 56-year-old Waterbury woman was pronounced dead following a two-vehicle crash on Waterbury Stowe Road on Friday afternoon.

The crash occurred at approximately 1:32 p.m. near the Billings Mobile gas station, according to the Vermont State Police.

Penny Mandigo, the operator of a 2011 GMC Sierra, was traveling north on VT Route 100 when she crossed the center of the roadway and collided head-on with a 2017 Western Star 4700.

The Western Star, operated by 41-year-old David J. Brier of Saint Albans, was traveling south and had just entered the intersection as the traffic signal turned green.

Mandigo, who was not wearing a seatbelt, suffered fatal injuries and was declared deceased at the scene.

No injuries were reported for Brier, who was wearing a seatbelt.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Assistance at the scene was provided by the Waterbury Fire Department, Waterbury Ambulance Service, and the Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles.
