PERU — A three-vehicle crash occurred on Vermont Route 11 at the intersection of Main Street on Feb. 17 at 10:39 a.m.
Troopers from the Vermont State Police – Shaftsbury Barracks responded to the scene.
Investigation revealed that two vehicles, a 2022 Subaru Forester operated by William Sargent, 59, of Springfield, and a 2021 Volvo XC60 operated by Jonathan Cifuentes, 44, of Manchester, were stopped on Route 11 waiting to clear traffic to make a left-hand turn onto Main Street.
A 2011 Subaru Legacy, operated by Alexandra Caffrey, 36, of Boston, Massachusetts, approached at a speed that made it unable to stop due to ice and snow buildup on the roadway.
Caffrey’s vehicle rear-ended Sargent’s vehicle, which then rear-ended Cifuentes’ vehicle.
All operators were wearing seat belts, and no injuries were reported.
Caffrey’s vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage, while Sargent’s vehicle had front and rear-end damage. Cifuentes’ vehicle sustained rear-end damage.
Benny’s Towing responded to remove the vehicles from the scene.
The Vermont State Police were assisted by the Peru Voluntary Fire Company.
No traffic violations were issued as a result of the crash.
