Drug arrest leads to trafficking charges in Worcester

WORCESTER — Two Worcester residents face multiple drug charges after a traffic stop led to the discovery of methamphetamine and fentanyl, police said Tuesday.

At about 7 p.m. Jan. 14, Worcester police officers stopped a vehicle after observing it cross the white line at a stop sign.

Officers had information that a man with three outstanding warrants was associated with the vehicle.

Police arrested Phisath Saphirak, 50, of Worcester, who was in the passenger seat.

Officers found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia on the floor near Saphirak and more methamphetamine on his person.

A search of the driver’s purse revealed 14 small bags of fentanyl, seven bags of methamphetamine and three bags containing various pills, according to police.

The driver was identified as Theresa Mascroft, 41, of Worcester.

Police said the amounts of fentanyl and methamphetamine found were considered trafficking quantities.

Mascroft faces charges including possession with intent to distribute Class B and E substances, trafficking in Class B 18-36 grams, fentanyl trafficking more than 10 grams and a stop sign violation.

Saphirak was charged with possession of a Class B substance, possession with intent to distribute Class B and three outstanding warrants.
