Springfield man arrested on cocaine possession, violation charges

SPRINGFIELD — A local man was arrested New Year’s Day after police allegedly found him in possession of cocaine near a known drug residence in Springfield, authorities reported.

Springfield Police Department officers were patrolling the Spring Street area when they encountered Michael Myers, 33, as he left the residence on foot.

According to the police press release, Cpl.

Perkins and Officers Clark and Kelcey conducted a consensual encounter with Myers, which led to the discovery of the substance believed to be cocaine.

Myers was taken into custody and transported to the Springfield Police Department for processing.

It was later determined that he was under active conditions of release, which explicitly prohibited him from possessing any controlled substances.

Myers is scheduled to appear in the Vermont Superior Court, Criminal Division, Windsor Unit, on Jan. 2 at 12:30 p.m. to respond to charges of possession of cocaine and violation of conditions of release.
