LYNDONVILLE — A wanted fugitive, Andrew Young, 36, of Lyndon, was apprehended by the Lyndonville Police Department on Jan. 10 after an alert Chief Harris spotted a suspicious vehicle associated with Young.

The police department had been informed two days prior of Young’s status as a fugitive from justice due to a felony arrest warrant issued by Grafton County (NH) Superior Court for felony drug possession.

He was also wanted on a warrant from Caledonia Superior Court for prohibited possession of a firearm.

At approximately 1:50 p.m., Chief Harris located the vehicle in question parked behind a local business on Broad Street.

The driver’s seat was empty when the officer approached.

A thorough search led by Officer Gerrish resulted in Young’s arrest inside a nearby business.

Following his arrest, Young was ordered held without bail by the Honorable Court.

In a dramatic turn of events, Young attempted to escape from police custody before being transported to a correctional facility.

Officer Renaudette quickly rearrested Young in the police department parking lot.

Young has been lodged at the Northeast Regional Correctional Facility without bail as a fugitive from justice.

His Vermont warrant bail was set at $100.

In addition, Young was issued a flash citation to appear before the Caledonia Superior Court on Jan. 13 at 12:30 p.m. to address the charge of attempted felony escape.
