Driver injured after crashing into tree in Wallingford

WALLINGFORD — A single-vehicle crash on VT RT 140 near W Hill Road resulted in injuries for a 78-year-old man from Pawlet on Jan. 11.

Vermont State Police report that Allen Harbatuk was traveling east when he failed to maintain his lane while navigating a corner, leading to his vehicle leaving the road and striking a town sign and then a tree.

The accident occurred at approximately 1:11 p.m. under cloudy skies with wet but clear road conditions.

Harbatuk, who was wearing his seatbelt, sustained chest pain and was transported to Rutland Regional Medical Center for treatment.

His 2002 Suzuki Grand Vitara suffered substantial front-end damage.

The Wallingford Fire Department and Wallingford Rescue assisted the Vermont State Police at the scene.
