EAST HAVEN — On Jan. 9 at approximately 2:52 p.m., East Haven Police were called to the King Smoke Shop on 591 Main Street following reports of a dispute.
Upon arrival, authorities learned that Carlos Diaz, 32, of New Haven, had entered the business demanding merchandise and threatening an employee with harm if his demands were not met.

Diaz was apprehended at the scene without further incident.
Police recovered the knife and stolen goods among other items.
He was charged with first-degree robbery, second-degree threatening, and second-degree breach of peace.
A bond of $10,000 was set, and Diaz is slated to appear at the GA 23 court in New Haven on Jan. 22.
