BOSTON — Two men were arrested in Roxbury on firearm and drug charges after a traffic stop led to the discovery of a stolen gun and large quantities of narcotics, authorities said Thursday.

At about 10:05 p.m. on Wednesday, members of the Youth Violence Strike Force apprehended Jeky Ball, 27, of Randolph, and Ja’Vante Dodson, 24, of Boston, following a vehicle stop on Dudley Street near Blue Hill Avenue.

According to the Boston Police Department, officers targeted the car because it had an invalid inspection sticker.

After pulling the vehicle over on Winthrop Street at the intersection with Fairland Street, officers detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside the car.

A subsequent search of the vehicle turned up a vacuum-sealed bag of marijuana, a black scale, two large bags of illegal drugs, and a firearm.

The recovered substances were later measured, revealing 14 ounces of marijuana, 49 grams of methamphetamine, 334 pills of pressed methamphetamine, and 200 pills of fentanyl.

The seized firearm was identified as a stolen Springfield XD9 with a loaded magazine and an unattached Syr Glock Switch.

Ball faces multiple charges, including carrying a loaded firearm without a license, unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a firearm in commission of a felony, and other related offenses.

Dodson was charged with trafficking methamphetamine and fentanyl, among other drug violation conspiracies.

Both suspects are set to be arraigned in the Roxbury District Court.
