Windsor County man arrested for bank fraud, identity theft

WOODSTOCK — Windsor County Sheriff’s Department has reported the arrest of Gregory Errico, 35, of Yonkers, New York, in connection with a series of bank frauds involving identity theft, false pretenses, attempted grand larceny, and forgery.

The arrest occurred on Jan. 7 after Errico attempted to conduct a fraudulent transaction at Mascoma Bank in Bethel.

Sgt. James Beraldi of the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department, along with Officer Maziarz of the Hartford Police Department, took Errico into custody following the attempted fraud.

Errico is also facing charges for a similar fraud in the Town of Hartford.

Following his arrest, he was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility with an initial bail set at $70,000.

The bail amount was reduced to $25,000 during his initial court hearing the next day.

The Windsor County Sheriff’s Department expressed gratitude to the staff at Mascoma Bank, law enforcement agencies throughout New England and Missouri, the Department of State Diplomatic Security Services, and the Hartford, Vermont Police Department for their assistance in the investigation and arrest.
