PANTON — A two-vehicle collision on VT Route 22A near West Road resulted in moderate injuries to a passenger and significant damage to both vehicles involved, authorities said.
Vermont State Troopers were called to the scene at around 3:26 p.m. on Jan. 8, where they discovered that a 2014 Subaru Outback, driven by 16-year-old Allegra De Boer of Vergennes, had rear-ended a 2019 Ford Expedition operated by 45-year-old Jennifer Rakowitz of Panton.
According to the investigation, Rakowitz’s vehicle was traveling southbound and had stopped to turn left into a private driveway when it was struck from behind by De Boer’s Subaru.
The impact caused total damage to the Subaru and moderate injuries to its passenger, who was transported to Porter Medical Center by the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad.
Rakowitz did not sustain injuries in the crash.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts at the time of the accident, which occurred under cloudy skies on wet road conditions.
The Ferrisburgh Fire Department also provided assistance at the scene.
